Early Indiana Inquiry Project
Who:
You and your group members are going to participate in an inquiry based learning project about the beginning times and people of Indiana.
What:
Each group will have a focus topic/theme for their inquiry project. Your project will begin with research in class and then creating a project that will best reflect your learning to your class members.
When:
Research dates will be from November 6th-November 8th in class. You may have to continue your research on your own time at home if necessary. Project building dates will be from November 11th-15th. You will be allowed to bring materials to school to build your project. All projects will be group choice and open to all possibilities. You will be allowed 10 minutes for a presentation, maximum. Presentations will be the week of November 18th-22nd. Each group will have a specific date to present and in a specific order. You will have to be prepared for your date of presentation.
Where:
We will spend 30 minutes of research time in the computer lab from November 6th-8th. You may be required to research at home, if necessary. We will create your projects at school from November 11th-November 15th and present in our classroom from November 18th-November 22nd.
Why:
Our objectives are as follows…
1. Explain why early people moved from place to place hunting and gathering food.
2. Describe how trade led early farmers to have contact with other groups and enhanced the sharing of information.
3. Explain early civilizations, including trade and wealth.
4. Explore the relationships between Native Americans and Early Explorers.
5. Describe the changes Europeans brought to Native Americans.
6. Explain how Native Americans worked with French fur traders.
7. Explore the cause and effect relationships of the French and Indian War.
8. Explore Indiana’s involvement in the Revolutionary War.
